A truly fitted column is the purest test of pattern drafting: there is no ease to hide behind. It is also the silhouette most often bought too tight, on the assumption the body will change.

Cut to your measurements with a considered amount of ease, a boned inner layer to smooth the line, and a walking vent or godet set into the back seam so you can move at a normal pace and manage stairs.

For Helderberg brides we favour silk crêpe and stable mikado over floating chiffon, weight the hem so the skirt returns to the body rather than lifting, and secure the neckline so it holds through photographs on an exposed lawn. Bridesmaids for the same wedding are cut from a single dye lot so the colour matches in the light off the bay. Fittings are remote by default, with the finished gown couriered insured to your door.
